The American temples claim church status and file no public 990. The sect’s Canadian arm files a full return, and about half of everything it takes in leaves for India.

The sect runs temples across the United States and a parent trust in India. Neither files anything a member of the public can read. The same network’s arms in Canada and the United Kingdom file in full, and their public returns show where the money goes: out of the country, to India. The disclosure lives at the edges. The core, in America and in India, stays dark.
About C$1 million a year leaves Canada for India. That is close to half of everything the charity takes in. It leaves on a public return: the Radha Madhav Society of Canada files a full T3010 with the Canada Revenue Agency, business number 794161885RR0001. The return shows about C$2 million in revenue and about C$9 million in assets. Roughly half of what comes in each year is spent outside Canada, in India.
The American temples claim church status. A church files no public Form 990. The Indian parent is a private family trust and files nothing. No foreign-contribution license is on record. From inside the United States, the money is invisible by construction.
The money still lands. It reaches four American entities, and not one of them opens its books.
The money arrives through donor-advised funds. At least ten of them route gifts into the four entities: PayPal Giving Fund, Fidelity Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, Network for Good, Morgan Stanley GIFT, and others. A donor-advised fund records the sponsor as the grantor of record. The person who put up the money is not named. Per-grant amounts are not on the public record. The relationship is what the record carries: fund to entity, giver unnamed. Morgan Stanley GIFT reaches the Los Angeles temple.
The United Kingdom arm discloses too. The charity, Charity Commission number 327921, reports FY2025 income of £1,024,466, about £1 million, funding “hospitals and schools especially in India.”
The disclosure is node-specific. Where a national arm files a public return, the return shows money leaving for India. Where an arm claims church status or skips registration, nothing shows. New Zealand’s branch is a local temple and sends nothing overseas. Australia’s branch is not a registered charity. No public return shows the Los Angeles temple’s own money crossing to India, and that question stays open.
The entities are not faceless at the top. The JKP Foundation lists Peter Spiegel as president. The Los Angeles temple carries the Spiegel-Williams name. Two directors of the Canadian society, the one arm that files in full, also sit on the American board that files nothing. The names are on the paper. The dollars are not.
One person connects the open books to the dark ones. Sushree Siddheshvari Devi, a preacher, founded the disclosing charities in the United States and in Canada. She is a listed preacher on the website of the Spiegel-Williams Los Angeles temple. The finances stay behind the wall. The pulpit does not.
The money boards are walled. The clergy is shared.
The books that open are abroad. They show about half of the Canadian intake leaving for India every year, and a charity that funds hospitals and schools especially in India. The American temples that share that preacher file nothing at all.
In fairness. Filing no Form 990 is lawful for an entity that claims church status. Donor-advised funds are a standard charitable vehicle used across American philanthropy. The United Kingdom arm describes its India spending as funding hospitals and schools. No public return shows the Los Angeles temple’s own money crossing to India, and that question stays open.
